What is "Butadon(Pork bowl)"?
This dish is topped with thinly sliced pork and onions stewed in seasoned wariage. It was developed as an alternative to gyudon (beef bowl) due to the difficulty in procuring beef caused by the BSE problem in December 2003. Beef bowls at good restaurants rely on beef sold to us by the United States.

Benefits of ”Butadon(Pork bowls)”
Pork bowl is a menu item that helps relieve fatigue and improve health by providing onions and protein, while the allicin in the onion helps the absorption of vitamin B1 in the pork.
Pork is high in protein and vitamin B1. Vitamin B1 contained in pork is not easily broken down when heated and is easily absorbed in the body, helping to convert carbohydrates into energy and relieving fatigue.

Step1.Saute Pork and onions.
Usually the meat is not sautéed but simmered in broth with the onions, but it is better to sauté it once to allow the Maillard reaction to occur. It tastes even better.
Step2.Add seasonings.
Add soy sauce, mirin, sugar, hondashi and water. Cook until onions are transparent and chicken is cooked through.
Step3.Simmer.
Finish
Place rice in a bowl and pour over rice.
