What is "Inari-Sushi"?
Inari sushi is a type of sushi that is commonly found in Japanese cuisine. It is named after the Shinto god Inari, who is believed to have a fondness for fried tofu, which is the main ingredient in this dish.
Inari sushi is often served as a snack or side dish in Japan, and it can also be found in bento boxes and sushi platters. It is a popular vegetarian option as it does not contain any raw fish. Inari sushi is easy to make at home and is a great addition to any sushi spread.
Benefits of ”Inari-Sushi”
If you look at it individually, it is known that the "vinegar" used in the vinegared rice used for inari sushi contains "citric acid", so it is effective in relieving fatigue.
The “age” that wraps the vinegared rice is said to contain high-quality protein, iron, and calcium because it is made from soybeans.
The other day, I went to Fushimi Inari Taisha in Kyoto and passed through Senbon Torii. One of the specialties of this shrine is inari sushi. The fried tofu that wraps the vinegared rice is said to be the favorite food of the foxes, the descendants of the god Inari, and this is how inari sushi became popular.
It doesn't use flour or meat, so it's healthy and delicious. You can make and eat at home without going to Kyoto.
The sushi in the pockets of fried tofu seasoned with soy sauce, sugar, and mirin had a perfect balance of sweetness and umami, and the texture of the fried tofu and rice was exquisite.
What I love about Inari Sushi is that it's a great vegetarian option that doesn't sacrifice any flavor. If you are a fan of sushi or just want to try something new, I recommend trying Inari Sushi.
Even if you are not vegetarian, you can enjoy it as a kind of sushi.
