Yakiniku Teishoku (Grilled Beef Set Meal)

From my kitchen in Japan

Once you can get thinly sliced beef or pork belly, your Japanese home-cooking repertoire expands dramatically. I especially like the cabbage underneath: the hot meat warms it and the sauce soaks into it.

Ingredients

  • Thinly sliced beef bellyAbout 250 g
  • Onion1
  • Yakiniku sauceAbout 100 ml
  • Shredded cabbageAbout 100 g

How to make it

  1. Put the thinly sliced beef in a bowl, pour over the yakiniku sauce, mix well and refrigerate for about 30 minutes.
  2. Slice the onion and stir-fry it gently. Add the marinated beef and cook thoroughly.
  3. Put shredded cabbage on a plate and place the hot beef and onion on top. Serve immediately, ideally with rice and miso soup.
