Quick answer

Sauce Yakisoba (Japanese Stir-Fried Noodles)

From my kitchen in Japan

For this dish I strongly prefer actual yakisoba sauce. Worcestershire sauce or tonkatsu sauce changes the character of the dish. If Chinese noodles are unavailable, pasta cooked with salt and baking soda can be used as a substitute.

Ingredients

  • Chinese-style noodles2 servings
  • Yakisoba sauceTo taste
  • Thinly sliced porkTo taste, optional
  • Cabbage or other vegetablesTo taste
  • Vegetable oilTo taste

How to make it

  1. Prepare the pork and vegetables and loosen the noodles if necessary.
  2. Heat oil in a large frying pan or griddle and stir-fry the pork and vegetables.
  3. Add the noodles and stir-fry, then add yakisoba sauce and toss until evenly coated.

Notes

Japanese mustard mayonnaise is a good optional topping if you like a richer finish.
